BY: Sven Ostring in Signs of the Times june 2108.  [John B].

Everything we see and touch had a beginning—-something or someone that caused it to exist. Follow the chain of causation back with Sven, to discover where everything began…….

I was in the middle of having a really fun conversation with my four-year-old son. He was pointing out all kinds of things we could see as we were driving along and then asking me questions about them.

“Look at those trees! They are so tall aren’t they Dad”?   I agreed. “Who made the tress my son asked, inquisitively?”

“God made them!” I answered with my standard Bible-class answer, that he happily accepted.

A few moments latter, he pointed out the other widow, “Look at those horses !”

“They’r very strong”, I said and started to recount some of my own childhood dreams of having my own horse.

“Dad, who made thew horses?” my son interrupted my thoughts.

“God made the horses, son, I responded with the Bible class accuracy. I stared to smile. I was on a roll now. There’s no question about the origins of things I couldn’t handle, or so I thought.

“Wow! Look at the fountain, can you see the rainbow right in the middle of it?” My son’s enthusiasm continued unabated. His wonder was contagious. “Who made all the water and the rainbow, Dad?”

I had the correct response even before he had asked the question. “God made the water and the rainbow, Isn’t He amazing?” I was truly enjoying my moment of glory and intellectual invincibility.. a heroic dad in full command of the mysteries of life, or so I thought.

My son paused for a moment, and I felt completely prepared for any further questions he might throw at me.

“Dad, who made God”?

CHECKMATE!   I had to smile at his clever ability to get behind my standard Bible-class answers. You are a clever and smart little boy, I thought to my self, as I considered the right words to explain the answer to his question.

My four year son’s question is by no means the only person to have asked this very same question. I well remember walking into a classroom of elementary school students to do a Q & A session about God, and the Bible, and as soon as I opened my lecture a hand shot up, and student confidently asked me, “Who made God?”

The English atheist Bertrand Russell began his famous essay “Why I am not a Christian.” by posing the same question: “Who made God”? This was the first step in his giving up believing in the supernatural. More recently, the outspoken Richard Dawkins raised a similar question “Who designed God?” which was the central theme in his book, “The God Delusion”.

Both of these two men believe that these questions in an unanswerable trump card and the clear evidence that God does not and cannot exist. However, before we trust their arguments, it’s worthwhile to stop, and to more a bit more time and thought into this problem.

Before we ask ‘who made god’, we need to ask another question: “Who are we actually talking about when we refer to God?” What is this Person we call God really like?

When Christians discuss God, they’re talking about the intelligent Being who , according to the Holy Bible, created the universe. But awesome creative ability isn’t the only characteristic of the biblical God. Here’s some more:

1) ONE and only GOD…….Isaiah 45:5 “I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:”

NOTE(JB):  girded…Strong’s 247   ‘azar [aw-zar’] to bind up, to encompass about. as in total protection, to strengthen us from within, yet we know it, nor He,— not.

This the bible’s prophet Isaiah spoke an oracle aimed at the military conqueror and empire builder Cyrus the Great. The Persian king an d his people worshiped many gods of Persia {Iran of today] . Cyrus took grandiose, even divine titles for himself: “Great King”, “King of Kings”, “King of the Four Corners of the world” and so on. . However Gods throughIasiah, was and is crystal clear about His uniqueness and ultimate supremacy, in the verse above, Isa. 45:5  This may sound very arrogant, unless it is fully truth! AGREE?

2) Unlimited Powers: Jeremiah 32:27  “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?”     Mark 10:27 “And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”

Nothing is too hard for God as His power is unlimited.

3) Omnipresence, everywhere present: Again the book of jeremiah, God asks us, “Can anyone hide from me..?         Jeremiah 23:23-24 “Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. ”

4) Omniscient.. all knowing:    Psalms 139:1-4 <<To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.>>” O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.”

NOTE(JB):  No human can keep anything secret from God, Who even knows out very thoughts! Therefore there’s no such thing as an unsolved crime!

5) Without beginning or end:   Moses, who spoke to God, face to face, like a friend in….                  Exodus 33:11 “And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. ……..”    When Moses composed a prayer about what his relationship with god, meant to him read Psalms 90.   Psalms 90:1-2 <<A Prayer of Moses the man of God.>> ” Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.”   It must be plain to one reading this passage, that Moses accepted the fact that God existed forever and so shall forever exist.

NOTE(JB): In the Hebrew the word eternity, means FROM FOREVER, TO FOREVER! This is the how we have the sign for eternity as the elongated figure 8 on its side, meaning no beginning nor an end!

6) Morally perfect and loving:   Moses wrote:  Deuteronomy 32:4 “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.”

Note(JB): Christ is The Rock:  Matthew 16:18 “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Note(JB):  Peter in the Greek is Petros  strong’s 4074 is a pebble a small rock  However upon this Rock  Petra, a massive rock even a mountain, 4073  This is Jesus speaking of Himself, for only the Divine powers are able to withstand the gates of hell, no human can.

1 John 4:8 “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”

Ephesians 5:23 “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”                                                                                Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”

Thus via God’s Word, the Roman church did not get set-up by Peter, as this church became a “nominal”, Christian church only AFTER Emperor Constantine’s decree of 321 A.D. When Peter had been dead for more than 200 years! This is the why we see Roman Catholic churches in islamic world, as they do not consider Rome to be Christian!

Revelation 13:2 “And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”                                                                                                       Please read Daniel to learn what these symbols mean! God uses animals to portray human kingdoms that combine civil and church into one authority, The beast here is Rome and the dragon is satan Rev.12:9.  Have you not ever thought of the why, all the world followed rome’s order of Sunday worship, in place of the Bible’s Sabbaths of the Seventh day?

Genesis 2:1-3 “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.”

Exodus 20:8-11 “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”

Please read Exodus the 16th chapter, and learn the why of the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, one to rid a generation of doubters, two, to prove Himself that we can totally rely upon Him, for all our needs, Plus getting them used to the 7th day Sabbaths . If one took too much Manna, and saved it for the next day, in became stinky and had worms, but they were told pick up two day’s worth on Preparation day {Friday} it did not spoil, thus God created a miracles, every day, for 40 years!

1 John 4:16 “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”

The more we study the Holy Bible, the more we learn about The Father, and The Son and The Holy Spirit, The Godhead, we experience HIM, as the Word is the Living Word of God! We can know this from the writings of John….

John 1:1-3″ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. ”

To remove any doubts as who is The Word…..   John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”         Mark 1:11 “And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Note(JB) In John 1:1-3,14 does it not indicate that none “MADE neither the Father or the Son? Now if they are not created, then does it not stand to reason that they are eternal, and have been forever to forever???? How can we have faith, in a God that is not eternal?

Now, consider, if another power Created God, then how can He say I am supreme there’s no other like me?  If on the other hand for everything to exist has to depend on something else for its very existence, ultimately nothing would be able to exist, thus Bertrand and Dawkins ideas that everything, including god, must have a cause, is simply wrong!

Note(JB): As God The Father, God the Son and gods the Holy Spirit have always been, then The Father IS THE CAUSE!

Romans 16:26-27 “But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. <<Written to the Romans from Corinthus, and sent by Phebe servant of the church at Cenchrea.>>”

Job 36:26 “Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.”

Thus, according to the Bible, as we have no other source of information about God, the simple answer to the question “Who made God” is NO ONE! As all life, borrows life from HIM, thus all things depend upon GOD for its very existence, even for our very next breath! That should give pause to think, for all those who reject Him!

As He knows everything about all of us, and He has unlimited power, and still loves us while we are all still sinners, we can indeed depend upon Him for everything!

John 3:15-18 “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

No not 9 or 8 but all ten, but why do so many “Christians have a great problem with His  fourth commandment? The ONLY one that begins with REMEMBER?

Thanking Y O U for your time.

T.R. Torkelson:    ” A LESSON FROM THE BIRDS”

One bleak winter’s day a man stood beside a window in his house watching the birds search vainly for food in his snow covered garden. He felt sorry for them, all fluffed up, against the bitter cold, hopping about the snow, scarcely able to move due to the cold. How can I help them ? he mused.

Then an idea struck. He would open the window and laid a trail of grain and beard crumbs from the garden to the open window of his warm house. But the birds refused to enter.

He went outside and tried to drive them in,  but he only frightened then out of the garden altogether. “Oh”, he said to himself, “if only I were a bird then they would understand me and follow me, and I could save them.”

Suddenly a great insight about Jesus Christ flashed into his mind. Looking upward, he cried out load, “O God, now at last I understand. The only way you could save us, the human race, was to become one of us Yourself. and through Your love and care for each, lead us to your safety.”

Morris Chalfant:   “THE SOX”.

Yes, its easy to think that little things don’t count… and sometimes they don’t, but sometime they do, and in a big way……

A group of men were carrying a friendly conversation. One of them remarked that he had learned to be especially careful about the small things. “Would you believe, that a little thing like a pair of socks changed my entire life? ” he remarked.

He explained that once he planned to take a trip with some of his friends,  but two days before they were to leave, he injured his foot. It was but a small cut,, but the blue die in his homemade socks poisoned the wound, and he had to stay at home. The man went on to state that while his friends were gone a powerful preacher came to his town to hold meetings, and he decided to attend. The messages touched him deeply, and he surrendered his heart to the Lord “Afterward I saw that I needed to change my life in many ways, “he said, “New desires and purposes took hold of me.”

The man who made those comments was none other than United States President James A. Garfield.

The story is told of a traveler who was bent under a heavy backpack. Suddenly, an angel approached him and asked what he was carrying.

“My worries”, the man replied.

“Please, let me see them.” said the angle.  But when they did they both looked inside, and he exclaimed, “Why its empty!” tow great worries in there

The man was astonished, “Why, there’s two great worries in there, that were almost too heavy for me to carry. But now I remember, one was about my worries about yesterday, and the other was one about tomorrow, but yesterday is gone, and tomorrow which is not here yet.”

The angel said: “Whosoever frets over yesterday’s worries or tomorrow’s worries is wearing himself out for nothing” So the traveler threw his backpack away and went on his way, signing.

1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

DIANE AGUIRRE, reflects upon a revelation moment that changed her outlook on a difficult situation.

The road was icy, I gripped the steering wheel with white-knuckled hands and fretted as I drove. It was February of a long, cold winter. Life had recently been full of challenges: illness, a leaky roof, car trouble. finances. Now a dense, blinding fog blanketed everything. Traffic moved with caution, and the clock on the dash taunted that my kids would probably be late for school.

Suddenly Lori’s delighted voice piped up from the back seat: “Ohhhh, this looks just like God’s love!”

Her words changed my whole perspective. Where I had seen delay and and danger, my little girls saw the delight of God’s all-pervading, white-shining love! While I was worried and fretted on our situation, she rejoiced over the visible reminder of an awesome God.

The apostle Paul, who faced many sore trails, wrote as guided by the Holy Spirit:

Romans 8:35-39 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Note (JB): If this is but a puzzle to you, please google Christian’s persecutions by Pagan Rome and then Roman church from A.D. 1oo to around 1798. The last “Court of Inquisition,” closed its doors in 1898 in Peru.

KENNETH HOLLAND:   as a former editor of the Signs of the Times magazine, (reg trademark) illustrates how difficult it can be for people to accept God’s free gift of salvation.

A Sunday School teacher wanted to show his calls how free God’s gift really is, so he took a watch from his pocket and offered it to the oldest boy.

“it’s yours if you will take it.” he said. The boy just grinned, he thought he was joking. Then he thought he’d be laughed at, if he took the watch, so he just sat there, grinning. In this same way the teacher went nearly around the class, but not one would take his gift. Finally, the smallest boy took the watch and put it in his pocked. The whole class laughed at him.

The teacher said to the boy, “I’m thankful that you believe my words. The watch is now yours”

The rest of the students looked on in amazement, and one of them said, “Teacher, you don’t mean that the watch is his— that he doesn’t have to give it back to you?”

The teacher said, “The watch is now his.”

“Oh-h-h… If I’d only known that I’d have taken it.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

NOTE(JB): no  one can “Work their way into heaven, by their means”.

Art Rooney, owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers football team, was a great note writer.  In 1968, one of his new players, was Rocky Bleier. However, after his first season Bleier was drafted by the Army, and was sent to Vietnam. Uncertain that he would ever play pro-football again, Bleier was surprised to receive a handwritten postcard from Rooney that said: “Rock, Team’s not doing well. Hope things are going better for for than they are here. Looking forward to having you back with us. Art.”

Rooney continued to send cards, newspaper clippings, and game programs during Bleier’s tour in Vietnam. When a hand grenade shattered his right foot, he was told that he would not ever play football again. However, Rooney continued to send notes of encouragement, including one while Bleier was in a Tokyo hospital. It said, “Rock, we want Pittsburgh with the Steelers.”

Those cards fueled Bleier’s determination to play pro-football again. And he returned to the Steelers and helped them win the Super Bowl in 1975. H3e retired in 1980.

Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:”

NOTE(JB) : Read in Genesis about Sarah and Abram {later renamed Abraham meaning ‘Father of many nations’} became parents, for the first time when she was 89 and he was 90 years old, Isaac was born!

John 11:43-44 “And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.”

Note (B): The Jews got the idea from the Greeks that the souls stayed with the body for three days after death, then it left the body. Thus Jesus waited FOUR days to resurrect him, from his “Sleep”. Note Jesus did not say come up, nor come down, but come forth! Thus Lazarus did not go anywhere but returned to the earth…Genesis 3:19 from dust thou art, to dust shalt thou return!.

Genesis 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

earthly dust + Breath of life {Spirit} =  a living soul therefore a human soul is NOT an added on feature, as even a slug has a soul! Thus 96% of churches teach errors!

Ecclesiastes 9:5″ For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.”

Note(JB): THINK….. think you life will be “Heavenly” if we go to heaven  not knowing anything?   God gave each one a brain, and a free-will to chose or or to reject Him, USE IT!

NOTE(JB): NEAR the time of the end of this dispensation of flesh man, there shall be but TWO camps of on earth for the all of humanity: CAMPT ONE: Follows and obey God and His 10 laws

CAMP TWO: everyone else, who obeys man’s laws, and observes the Sabbath, not the so-called LORD”S DAY, SUN DAY! Which is but a pagan Sun worship day! began in 321 A.D. by the Roman emperor Constantine’s decree, “All shop to be open on Saturday, but closed on Sunday for a feat of the Venerable day of the Sun,” and the Roman Church accepted it thinking they would “Christianize the pagans, but they were far outnumbered and the got pagazanized instead!  Read Daniel 7 and Ten Revelation 13:1-2; the WHY!

“The HOLY SPIRIT”. Pastor Charles Byrd.

My many thanks to Pastor Byrd for this study. (John B)

Within the KJV Holy Bible there’s this amount as:

He & Spirit   141 verses.

He & Comforter, 3 verses

He & Holy Ghost, 33 verses

‘Holy Ghost 89 verse

Holy Spirit 7 verses.

If you decide to look up all these verses they will give you the insights on the Holy Spirit above most others.

  1. Not even ONCE in the whole OLD TESTAMENT, does “Spirit” and “he” come together. Just “the Spirit”.
  2.  There  are also “UNCLEAN” spirits , who are devils, demons, or fallen angels who can control, cut, speak, hear, negotiate, enter, and leave individuals. ( see Mark 12:43,1:25.5:9,10,12,13.  (;20,25,26 and Acts 16:18.)  ]

Note(JB): To all our “Charismatic”  friends be sure to read Mark 16:17 and Acts 23:4,11,10; 10: 46 and 19:6. Plus Romans 3:13, and ! Cor. 12:10,30; 13:1,8; 14:5-6. 22,,23, 39.  If no-one understands your words, “How does this edify God”?  See #2 again!

3. We do find in the Old and the New Testament that the Holy Spirit is given credit for doing things that an abstract “Force” would not be given credit for doing…

  • Matthew 1:18,20 Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost’
  • Matthew 3:11 We are baptized with the Holy Ghost..[Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16]
  • Mark 3:29 The Holy Ghost can be blasphemed against.
  • Luke 1:5, Acts 7:55, Romans 8:11 The Holy Ghost can dwell in a person, even to the point of filling them.
  • John 14:26, 21: 11 He teaches, reminds us and compares.
  • Luke 2:26- 21:11 The Holy Ghost can reveal a future event.
  • 2 Corinthians 13:14 He communicates with people.
  • Hebrews 3:7 The Holy Ghost pleads with us to make good choices. {? our conscience?]
  • Acts 1:2 ^The Holy Ghost have the commandments.
  • Acts 1:8 The Holy ghost gives power so that we humans can become witnesses of the divine.
  • Acts 2:4, 19:6 The Holy Ghost causes us to receive His gifts
  • Acts 2:23 The Holy Ghost made promises to Christ.
  • Acts 5:3, Ephesians 4:30 & Isaiah 63:10 The Holy Ghost can be lied to, grieved and can be vexed, [Irritated, distressed or annoyed]
  • Acts 7:51 and He can be resisted.
  • Luke 4:1, Romans 8:14 The Holy Spirit {Holy Ghost] ca n lead us.
  • Romans 8:27 The Holy Spirit has a mind. [a force can’t have a mind agree?]
  • 1 Peter 3:18 The Holy Spirit can make a dead person [both spiritually and physically] live.\
  • 1 Peter 3:19 The Holy Spirit can preach.
  •  Luke 4:18 The Spirit can anoint to ministry including preaching, healing– even on an emotional level, freeing captives, and giving sight to the blind.
  • Acts 13:2 The Holy Ghost directed the church to put certain men[ by name] into ministry,
  • Acts 20:28 The Holy ghost makes us overseers.
  • Titus 3:5 The Holy Ghost renews us, [JB can and does, change our character]
  • 1 John 5:6, Hebrews 10:13, Acts 5:32. The Holy Spirit can “Bear Witness” as in a court of law, just as people can.
  • Revelation 2:7,1117, 29. 3:6,13,22. And the Holy Spirit can speak through people like John in vision, through the written word like “HE” did to the Seven Churches, in Rev.2,3 chapters. When in trial… [when we are brought before a tribunal] the Holy Ghost will speak through us in Mark 13:11

4. Jesus, when He was referring to the Holy Spirit, spoke about Him as HE, Him and Himself. see John 14:16,17, 26. 15:26; 16:7-8*-13-14-15*

5. The Holy Ghost has a name, like a person, and by the direction of Jesus we are to baptize in His name as well as that of the Father and the Son. Matthew 28:19

6. In Genesis 1:1 the word GOD is ‘Elohiym’ which is plural, Thus is should read “GODS” implying there’s more than one remember baptize them in the name of The Father, and of The Son and of The Holy Ghost?  [Matt.28:19]

7. According to Paul, Peter, and Luke the Holy Bible—all the Bible— was given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21; and, Acts 1:16; 28:25.

  • ALSO…. Following ar3e 21 references to the Holy Spirit as HE, Him, and Himself from John and Paul.

JOHN 14:16-18

The Holy Spirit– HE        2

HIM      3   for a total of 5 times…..

John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;”

John 14:17 “Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

NOTE(JB: Please take notice of the ending above…”and HE shall be in you.” Meaning that as the Holy Spirit, He can WHEN Y O U. . .  invite Him to enter daily!

John 14:18 “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”

Is He in person? Or by the power of The Holy Spirit? Ephesians 3:16*, 17*-21.

NOTE(JB): “I will come to you” Thinking in earthly terms, The Holy Ghost is as the AMBASSADOR of Jesus, representing Himself within Y O U,  to guide, and to rework your character if YOU but allow it. HOW??? By accepting Jesus as your personal Savior and by loving obedience to His Word, the Holy Bible!     John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.  Remember the Lord’s Prayer…? “Give us this day our daily bread….? read the Bible daily, with prayers asking for wisdom to understand asd HE would have it for you!

JOHN 14: 26

John 14:26 “But the COMFORTER, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I [JESUS] have said unto you.”

JOHN 15:26

John 15:26 “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, HE shall testify of me:”

JOHN 16:7-15

 HE—– 11 TIMES

John 16:7 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send HIM unto you.”

John 16:8 “And when HE is come, HE will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:”

What, if anything, doers Jesus say are the workings of the Holy Ghost?

John 16:9-12″ Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.”

John 16:13 “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of HIMSELF; but whatsoever HE shall hear, that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.”

John 16:14″ HE shall glorify me: for HE shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”

John 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine*: therefore said I, that HE shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

* EVEN THE SPIRIT? ——-  Romans 8:9″But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”

Note(JB):  even with a lifetime of serious Bible study, even the most Biblically learned can say “I am but a student of God’s Word!” As there are connections, and facts, each student learns about each time they study! Each time they wonder, why have I not seen this before?

1 CORINTHIANS 12: 4-31.

In these passages, it seems that the Holy Spirit is firmly equated with God– at minimum, part of the Godhead. But possibly also taking on the name of The Lord and god. In verse 4 He is “SPIRIT” and in verse 5 is HE LORD? and in verse 6 is HE “GOD”?

NOTE(JB): These questions only The Father can give answer to.

1 Corinthians 12:4″ Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.”

1 Corinthians 12:5 “And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.”

1 Corinthians 12:6 “And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.”

1 Corinthians 12:7″ But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.”

1 Corinthians 12:9-11 “To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;  10. To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11.But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.”

1 Corinthians 12:12-18 “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.  14. For the body is not one member, but many.  15. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 16.  And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 17.  If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? 18.  But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.”

1 Corinthians 12:19-31″ And if they were all one member, where were the body?  20. But now are they many members, yet but one body.  21. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 22.  Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:  23. And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. 24.  For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:  25. That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.  26. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.  27. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.  28. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.  29. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30. Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?  31. But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.”

1 JOHN 5:6-8.

1 John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

1 John 5:7″ For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

NOTE(JB): The “THREE IN ONE” The GODHEAD,  Three divine individuals all of the same substance. All have specific areas,  but all work for their common,  Creations.

1 John 5:8 “And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

Textual evidence attests the omission of the passages( in red)  the resultant reading of verses 7,8 is as follows: “For these three that bear record, The Spirit and the water, and the blood: and these three in one.” The passage is given in the KJV {King James Version] is in not Greek manuscript earlier that the 15th and 16th centuries. The disputed words found their way into the KJV by way of the Greek text of Erasmus. It is said that Erasmus offered to include the disputed words in his Greek Texts, if he were shown even one Greek manuscript that contained them. A library in Dublin Ireland, produced just such a manuscript [known as 34] and Erasmus included the passage in his next text. It is now believed that the later editions of the Vulgate acquired the passage by the mistake of a scribe who included exegetical marginal comment in the Bible he was copying. The disputed words have been widely used to support the doctrine of the Trinity, but, in view of such overwhelming evidence against the authenticity, their support is valueless and should not be sued. In spite of their appearance, In the Vulgate  A CATHOLIC COMMENTARY ON HOLY SCRIPTURE, freely admits these words: “It is now generally held that this passage, called the comma Johanneum, is a gloss that crept into the text of Old Latin and Vulgate at an early date, but found its way into the Greek text only in the 15th and 16th centuries” {Thomas Nelson and Sons , 1951, P. 1186]

Therefore we should not use 1 John 5:7 to support the Holy Spirit as the  third Person of the Godhead, there is sufficient evidence in other passages listed in this study, to document a belief in the Holy Spirit as fa “PERSON” and part of the Godhead.

Thanking Y O U for your time.

My many thanks to Kim and to Sign of the Times  July 2018, issue, (john b).

Connection verses isolation—-K. Peckham explains the deep spiritual implications in these two approaches to our relationships with others.

Let me say , up front, that I’ve never seen the devil. I’ve never even been to a Black Sabbath concert. So my qualifications as an expert of the prince of darkness are weak Even so, I am willing to go out on a limb here ans say that I know his plans for all our futures [note Kim here wrote for YOUR future but the Bible tells that he’s a tireless worker for his cause, to turn us away from our Father-Creator JB]

Does Satan want you to suffer? Sure. Does he want you to get all tied up in wickedness like some character on an HBO movie? For sure! But I dare say that his most sinister goal is one you may not ever expect: he wants you to feel all alone.

In fact he wants you, and me, to feel so alone as a Wheatgrass smoothie at a biker bar! Note JB: my apologies to all bikers, rode one myself for years in LA.] He’s actually the bully that wants you to run to the edge of school yard and cry by yourself. Satan doesn’t want you to be married. He doesn’t want you to have friends, and he’d prefer that you stay in your cubical at work and avoid all contact with people, period! The devil’s idea is for you to be confined in a solitary confinement.

And he’s already made a great deal of progress towards this end. According to a study at Duke University, one-fourth of Americans have no meaningful social support at all—- not single person in whom they can confide in, or even seek advice from. More than one half of Australians told researchers that in a National Lifeline Survey that often “felt lonely”.

Even now, persistent forces are pulling us away from each other, extended work hours means less time for social connections. Longer commutes have the same effect. Robert Putnam, who’s a sociologist and author of Bowling Alone, says that for every ten minutes added to your commute time, there’s a TEN percent decrease in your social ties.                       Previous generations, shopped locally in smaller stores, today most shop in the Big Box stores where you’ll have a better chance of meeting a dancing bear, than someone you know!  Many stores now offer self-checkout, removing even the possibility to have a brief conversation with the checker!

As a man, I miss, especially, the opportunity to interact with others by giving them some verbal help aids. It’s to me immensely satisfying to be able to help other who don’t know how to open his email box. But now my friends dash away saying “I’ll just Google it”! Where’s the fun in that? The internet has filtered out our socializing from the process of sharing information!

NOTE(JB): How many of us, have not witnessed teens sitting in a booth, and texting each other all with any conversations? School seems no long to encourage math, beyond the ever-present calculators, and most high-school students now print when they write, how isolating is all this? Plus all the texting is done in “Short-hand” so that even proper spelling is becoming very unknown! All this and “group think”, to boot! Parents are YOU awake?

Sometimes we even DREAD the prospect of a new social connections, almost as if making a new friend is like adopting a incontinent cat. My friend Ethan recently enrolled in a college far from his hometown. He’s an artistic introvert who’s absorbed in 70’s pop culture and the art of puppetry. The Dean of men, confided in him that since it was the middle of the school year, Ethan would have to put in extra effort into reaching our and making friends.  “That sounds AWFUL” Ethan said, He could see a lot of uncomfortable moments if he followed that advice. It would be much easier to stick with his puppets!!!

I get it! Maintaining relationships can be awkward at times. But our lone-cowboy existence has steep costs. Former U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy insists that the most threatening health issue in the nation is not cancer or heart disease, nor obesity. It’s ISOLATION. For those who are lonely or living by themselves, the risk of early death rises by more than a quarter, according to a large study from Brigham Young University as reported in the Boston Globe.

Loneliness has been linked to heart disease, strokes, and an increased incidence of Alzheimer’s. One study found that it can be as much of a long-term risk factor as smoking!  So being alone, accomplishes the devil’s work as far as sickness and death are concerned.

If you reflect on the devil’s most popular temptations, you’ll notice that they tend to drive people apart. This  is true of violence, racism, {Note or the overused racism charges, we should each remember that when we point a finger at another, there’s three pointing back at us! Anyone who sees racism everywhere, are themselves full of it.], and the leaving of passive-aggressive notes in the office refrigerator!

God’s intentions for you are completely different. God WANTS to bring you into a personal relationship, primarily because, that’s how life happens! To quote pastor and author Rick Warren, {The Purpose Driven Life The Purpose Driven Church} “If you had lived your entire life with no human contact, you’d not have the slightest idea who or what you were,. You only know that because you’re in a relationship with other human beings. You learn your identity by being in relationships.”

Note(JB): I’ve been very critical of this man, for many reasons, dealing with doctrines that find no fit it the Holy Bile, mainly His idea that he’ll not allow the book of “The Revelations of Jesus Christ” to be taught in HIS church! To which I ask, “Why did the Holy Spirit lead John into writing it? 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”  “Inspiration” The Greek meaning breathed. Divinely breathed.

The full and brutal reality of this statement was revealed in 1989 when Ceausescu’s totalitarian regime collapsed in Romania and the world’s press gained access to the state orphanages where the children, despite adequate nutrition and hygiene, were suffering from a variety of behavioral and intellectual impairments. Some even died. The simple, and devastating cause was a lack of human contact and nurture. In contrast your existence becomes more glorious in relationships.

The importance God puts on relationships is obvious when YOU look at the Ten Commandments [Exodus 20:1- 17; Deuteronomy 5:6-21] While the first four commandments deal with our relationship to The Creator Father God… the last six protects our connections with each other. Would YOU agree with this: “All people tend to get along better, with others when they don’t lie nor steal, or murder one another”?????

Who can’t see God as One trying to bring all people together right now? Look around you own community and at the churches, where there are souls gathering, and building their relationships with their Creator and God, as well as with each other! Just think of this…none of these people would not ever have ment, if the church was not there! So, what is it about God, that even if we do not worship Him, He still wants us to have a relationship with others and enjoy each other’s company?

God keeps drawing us into deeper and more  secure relationships. Take for example marriage. God should in all probability receive a royalty for each and every marriage, because it’s one of His best ideas… right up there with opposing thumbs and Corn-on-the-cob. He Himself said that marriage, “is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” [Genesis 2:24]

Does it not sound as if God is making a new creature out of two different people? God brings their strengths together into one unified package. I can see in my own marriage how my gifts and my wife’s gifts compliment each other. She contributes her good taste, her intelligence, her cleaning and cooking skills and her patience helping our child with his homework. While I bring to the marriage by ability to back-up the boat trailer! This may not be fair, but it works for us.

Marriage leads to children, who are the building blocks of the extended family and pretty much the only reason we go to music recital. Children, like marriage, are examples of God forging permanent connection. We can feel secure in these relationships which are based more on love and commitment that on how charming or talented the children may be.

Note(JB): LOVE, the outward kind, is what God is! Love is the foundation of His Government and governance, that’s why there’s no hell-fires now, and the sinners cast into the future’s “Lake of Fire” will burn only as long as justice has been done, None of this forever and ever-burning as so many teach, just read the Bible for yourselves, and learn the truth not the lies of men and Satan!

What about his schemes for you? Is he elbowing you into loneliness? Know that there’s One Who is working hard to bring you into connections with other people. God envisions YOU to be involved in a secure and rewarding relationships with Himself and with His family and with your family!

Yet even the Old Testament spoke of things not ideal in any  marriage such as…. Genesis 4:19 “And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.”  OR…. 1 Samuel 1:1-2 “Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite: And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.”

Note(JB) Lamech a descendant of Cain and the son of Methushael. No not Methuselah, Cain maned all his sons with names almost identical in sound and meanings as the Sons of Adam and his son Seth. Just as Satan with his counterfeits to God’s goodness.  ADAH= “ornament”  in meaning of her name. The mother of Jabal and Jubal [Genesis 4:19-21,23]  Zillah means “Shadow” the mother of Tubal-cain.[ Gen. 4:19-23]

Deuteronomy 24:1 “When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.”

Uncleanness…sexual immorality, infidelity, physical abuse are the only reason for divorements. Prayer and honest desire will repair the breach. I believe that God looks at divorce, the same way we look a death!

“GOD PREPARED” Pastor Charles Byrd 6/02/2018

My many thanks to my Pastor Byrd for this sermon.

If we think that Our Father-God, got all this started, and then allowed chance, to bring us to the present stage and time, just look at His  “Hands-on” methods here in Jonas.

Jonah 1:1-2 “Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.”

However, as with many of us, we have our own notions and ideas do we not?  Now some historical background is in order here, Nineveh, was a military thorn in Israel’s side, As they often raided this tiny nation, taking what they wanted. So we can understand Joel’s reluctance to got to its capital, as they were warlike, and to cheat someone was thought to be a good thing, to steal something of value was even better!

Jonah 1:3 “But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish  [Spain] from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; [Haifa] and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.”

Those who know their Bible will recal Abraham bargaining with God about the righteous people in Sodom…

Genesis 18:28 “Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.”

All the way down to…

Genesis 18:32 “And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake”

Does this not show, that this idea of God being angry and dictatorial in the Old book, but somehow kinder and gentler in the new, is but a false idea, coming from the author of falsehoods, Satan?

Jonah 1:4 “But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.”

The Mediterranean Sea, not a small  body of water, but far from being an ocean, can be whipped up quickly in huge waves, that has sunk many a vessel over time.  In verses 5 and 6 we see the ship’s crew fully alarmed, and find Jonah sound asleep in the hold. They demand that he pray to God for their safety. They drew straws, lots, and it fell upon Jonah, who was asked who , and, what he was.

Jonah 1:9-10 “And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land. Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them.”

Severe storms, even in modern ships, are sailors greatest fears, especially then, in wooden ships, and he asked them to cast him overboard, as he knew the why of the storm, that God PREPARED for this occasion. The Holy Spirit no doubt, working on his conscience.   When any believer, is told to go, don’t think….. just go! God will take care of all the details.

Jonah 1:14 “Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man’s life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee.”

Jonah 1:15 “So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.”

They threw him overboard! BUT…….

Jonah 1:17 “Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. ”

No man, nor woman can know what kind of fish, God had PREPARED, for this event, however as with all Jewish time frames, even a half hour was taken as a full day, and the why the Bible tells us Jesus was in the tomb for three days, from Friday late afternoon to dawn on Sunday, thus even in death Jesus RESTED in the day of REST The Sabbath! Still, it must have seemed like an eternity to Jonah being in belly of this fish.

Philippians 4:6-7 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

QUESTION: “If Y O U found your self in the belly of a fish, would you not spend much time in prayer, seeking to be saved?  Think Y O U that’s what Jonah was doing?

1 Thessalonians 5:17 ” Pray without ceasing.”   Especially when we are intent upon doing it our way, and not God’s way.

1 John 5:14 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”   James 4:3 “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”

He’ll not answer the prayer of 16-year-old boy’s request, for a 200 mile per hour car!  For one’s answered prayers…..

Psalms 26:7 “That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works. ”

Be a witness, and tell the world of how He answered your prayer.

Jonah 2:1 “Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly,”

Question: Think it possible that God had this as a “FORCED” time of prayer?

Jonah 2:10 “And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.”

Now is the time to let you, dear reader, know the why of the fish! You see they worshiped DAGON, the Fish god! In fact, many sources on the web, will have pictures of their priests, clothed in a “FISH” coat with a tail, and a hat that looks like an open fish-mouth, that we see on the Catholic popes!  {Please think!} So when people saw a man, coming from the mouth of huge fish, they knew that it was Dagon’s person!

Isaiah 43:10 “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.”

Isaiah 43:12 “I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.”

NOTE(JB):   Please know, that any so-called religion, that does not follow and adhere to the Holy Bible 100 percent, is but a man-made apostasy! Thankfully, even within these folds are those who fully love Jesus and hear His voice. [John 10:16, 27]

Jonah 3:4-5 “And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.”

Jonah 3:6-10 “For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.”

Just as Abraham was able to “negotiate” (?) with God about Sodom, God saw the actions of the people in Nineveh and He relented. Which did not sit well with Jonah…

Jonah 4:1-4 “But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry. And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil. Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live. Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry?”

Note(JB): Does it ever become well when we allow our anger to rise up? Anger never turn out well for me, how about you? Replace anger with righteous indignation.

Jonah 4:6 “And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.”

Jonah 4:7 “But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.

Jonah 4:8 “And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.”

Jonah 4:8-9 “And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live. And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.”

Note(JB) Sound like Jonah was having himself a great big Pity-Party, don’t it? Does it help anything, or  anyone?  No it just makes us feel even worse, right?

Jonah 4:10-11 “Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night: And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?”

Nahum 3:7 “And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?”

Note(JB): their “Conversion,” was only on the service and not of the heart/mind. They when back into their old, evil ways and the results were that Nineveh to this day is still in ruins, as are Babylon and Tyre.

So what’s the lesson here? (1) Evil shall not prevail, but perish.

(2) It’s always for the best, to do all things God’s way, for only He knows the end from the beginning!

(3) Besides look at just how much He loves ea ch one of us, so much that He willingly sacrificed his Son Jesus c the cruel cross for our sins. Is there anyone Y O U love enough, to lay down your life, for them?  Jesus did, and lived with the knowing for over 4,000 years!

Romans 6:23″For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

1 John 2:4 “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”

NOTE(JB): Look at your calendar and make note which day is the Seventh day! Now read Exodus 20:

Exodus 20:8-11 “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”

Most of Christendom obey Rome’s edict of SUNDAY SACREDNESS! That’s the first day of the week. Now what can man or men make holy? NOTHING!

Isaiah 58:13″ If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:”

The Sabbath is the Memorial, given to us from God, to remind us of The CREATION! AS the year is set by the earth’s journey around the Sun. The month comes from the Moon’s cycles, and our 24 hour day, is our earth’s rotation on its axis, but there’s no celestial source, for the Seven day week other than Genesis 2:1-3.   Look…..>

Mark 2:27 “And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:”

Note(JB): Does this verse say that the Sabbath was made for the Jews, or for all of mankind, in MADE FOR MAN? Follow the Bible and not the men of Rome! They can’t save self nor you! Besides whom do they worship on SUNDAY, but the day if was named for The Sun god! All of God’s truths, Satan has a counterfeit!

“MORE THAN A DREAM. RANDY MAXWELL- Signs of the Times 4/2018.

For the April 2018 issue Signs of the Times, which marks the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King’s assassination, we asked a Pastor who is of African decent, to reflect on the relevance of King’s powerful message today!

With this in mind I give my many thanks to both his memory, and his deeds, to his family and Pastor R. Maxwell and this magazine, for this effort! ( JohnB)

Note(JB) No person can honestly claim to be a “Christian,” and still be a hater, a bigot, and be a judge of his neighbor based only on the exterior of his or her fellow human beings!  WHY?

Mark 12:30-31″And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”

WHY must this be so?

Acts 17:26 “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; “

Plus we CAN all be washed clean of sin, by the Blood of Jesus Christ! Who died for us all!……

Shakespeare’s HAMLET wrestles with the reality of the rise of an evil ruler. Haunted by visions, Hamlet feels that he must set things right. “The time is out of joint, that ever I was born to set it right!”

The times of Martin Luther King Jr. were certainly our of joint as far as civil rights were concerned. And Dr. King, among many others, haunted by visions of lynchings, firebombing, water cannons, police dogs, and the jailing of peaceful protestors, felt the call to right the disjointed times with a compelling dream of liberty and justice for all.

The “Drum Major for justice” as he wanted to be remembered— a future free from the triple evils of racism, war, and poverty.

That dream entered into the American consciousness 55 years ago on August 28, 1963, when more than 200,000 demonstrators took part in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, in this Nation’s Capital. But it almost didn’t happen The “Dream Speech”, which people of all creeds and ethnicities recognized as one of the most memorable and inspiring speeches in American history, was NOT in King’s notes that day!                                     King had shared elements of the dream speech in sermons and talks before the Washington March, but for this occasion he opted  to go with the “Bad Check” metaphor in one of his drafts, which would support an argument that America had failed to fulfill its promise of liberty and equality to its black citizens. He didn’t think he could fit both that and ‘The Dream’ refrains into the five minutes allotted to each speaker.

When King began to speak, he struck to his prepared text, reminding America of its promissory note guaranteeing life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to all men—- a promissory note it had defaulted on as far as people of color were concerned. As he neared the end of his speech, Gospel Signer Mahalia Jackson, who was seated within earshot of Dr. King suddenly shouted , “Tell them about the dream, Martin!”                                                        It could be argued that without those six words spoken in the hearing of Dr. King as he addressed the crowd that day, the “Dream” might not ever have made into the American lexicon!   As Dr. King, looked out over the crowd. As he later explained in an interview, “all of a sudden that thing came to me that I have used— I’d used many times before, that thing about “I have a dream–”  and I just felt that I wanted to use it here.”    He said, “I say to you today, my friends, though, even though we face the difficulties of today,j and tomorrow, I still have a dream.”

With the soaring oratory, King painted a picture of the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners sitting down together at the table of brotherhood! He dreamed of a day when little black boys and girls would join hands  with little white boys and girls as sisters and brothers.

NOTE(JB): Is this not the same “DREAM” that Jesus Christ spoke about nearly 2,000 years ago?. As the term and belief in Evolution is so prevalent today, anyone who know a little of human history, also knows that mankind is not evolving, but DEVOLVING, as prophecy has told us….

Isaiah 5:20-24 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.”

Note(JB): There’s only right and wrong, black and white, truth and lies, we either obey God or satan, we can;’t follow both!    Matthew 6:24″ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon.”

With all the fire and homiletic passion of the Baptist preacher, that he was, King’s call to let freedom ring from “Every hill and molehill,” transformed the civil rights rally into a revival meeting. King’s dream fueled a movement and pricked (nay STABBED,, JB] the conscience of America. BUT did it convert the soul of America?? More than half a century later, is our nation any closer to making good on its promissory note for freedom?? Or is the “Bank of Justice” still in default?

Standing on those steps of the Lincoln Memorial at the western end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. perhaps even the dreamer never imagined that 46 years later, on the eastern end of that Mall, an African-American would be standing on those very same steps of the Nation’s Capital to be sworn in as the 44th President of the United states. For may, the election of Barack Obama represented the realization of the “Dream”.. America’s “Check”, was finally “Cashed”.

Others knew better.

Without question, many strides have been made in the fight for racial equality. As an African-American myself, I have benefited from those strides. I recall eating at a restaurant in the south while on a business trip in the 1990’s and reflecting on the reality that just 30 years earlier. I could not eat there!

Nevertheless, on the 55th anniversary of the dream speech, the time are “Out of Joint” again. and more like the 1960’s than we dare to admit!

NOTE(JB) How true, but please know and remember, those “Rebels.” of the 1960’s are not the same people that are in charge, jin business and politics!

Rising crimes of hate….[ (NOTE(JB) has anyone ever seen a crime done in love? Isn’t Liberalism grand?] the NFL protests,, controversial police shootings,  the emerging of white nationalism, Confederate Statues uproar, rancorous immigration debates, reform exchanges, Charlottesville, Ferguson,  Black Lives Matter, White Lives Matter [Note(JB) sorry do not all HUMAN lives matter equally?] and so on, and one!  [Note (jb)Are all these not as a cancer upon the humanity, that each belongs to?]

Why the relapse? Why hasn’t his dream been realized in these 55 years? Perhaps it’s because a commandment has not ever, yet been obeyed in the near 2,000 years since it was given!

John 13:33-35″Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

Note(JB): It should be painfully obvious, that most of us are not yet there! Because we as a society have removed God and the Bible from our National Consciences, and have replaced it with the Godless evolution!  I personally guess that all these evolutionists have no problem being called a monkey’s uncle! The laughter you hear,is Satan’s! He knows he’ll have much company when he’s cast into the Lake of fire of Revelation!

Or, could it be as Senator Jeff Flake put it: “Our democracy is more defined by our discord nad our dysfunction, that by our own values and principles.”  Is it because we’ve given only lip-service to the dream, and ignored the commandment? And by the “WE”, I mean Christians, I mean, the Church!

During the Birmingham campaign, a few months before his dream speech, Dr. king wrote the following words from his Birmingham jail cell: “I must honestly reiterate that I have been disappointed with the church….. “….. To many others have been more cautious than courageous have remained silent behind the anesthetized security of the stained-glass window.”….

“…..I have wept over the laxity of the church. But he assured that my tears have been tears of love. There can be no deep disappointment where there is no deep love…. Yes, I see the church as the body of Christ. But , oh! How we have blemished and scarred that body through social neglect and through fear of being nonconformists.”

Have the scars of social neglect and prejudice on the body of Christ completely healed? Just days before writing this, a friend sent me a link to an article describing the racist attitudes of a church staff-member that were directed towards a white family who had adopted black children. Following is an except from that article…. ” ‘it’s really good that you have adopted him,’ said the staff member, ‘Then he won’t be the ghetto like other black kids.’ “.

“Excuse me?” I replied… I scooped up my son and walked away!.

“We are a multiracial family now, white parents raising black children in a white community and a nearly all white church. We had educated ourselves about race issues, read books, and had personal experiences that showed us how far we are from a post-racial society. But I never expected our biggest awakening to come from within our church family!

NOTE(JB): Sadly many a so-called ‘Christian’, is one in name only! If this were not so, the churches would be standing together, and publicly denounce all sins including the sin of racism! Quick & easy divorce and same-sex marriages, but they all lack the INTESTINAL FORTITUDE TO DO THIS! ………….  P.C. RUN AMUCK, AT THE COST OF TRUTH! AIDS IS STILL A MAYOR KILLER IN THIS WORLD! WE ALL NEED TO “DRAW WATER,” FROM OUR OWN WELLS!

“Hood-wearing, vitriol-spewing racist? Absolutely not! A 1,000 small comments or assumptions that began to shatter my heart? Painfully.. yes! Isn’t it si good we rescued them [ our black kids] from a life of inner-city drugs and gangs? The staff member might as well have said “Don’t worry, we won’t ever view your children as [whispers] blacks in our church.”

As hurtful as this was to read, what pained me even more was the comment someone– a non-Christian–posted in response: “Church-goers are a racist hypocrites. What a shock”! Believe me, it got much worse from there. Much worse.  The overwhelming sentiment from other readers about the staff member’s comment was that this behaviour shouldn’t come as a surprise or a shock because it’s been going one, under the guise of godliness, forever. IF, ONLY God’s people would deem to keep the 11th commandment:

John 13:35″By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

Sadly, it seems the church is known for something far different that loving one another. We can, and must do better!

Sadly, the “DREAM”, tarried, because the commandment doesn’t go beyond skin deep {(Note(JB) after all remove the skin color and all are the same humans, as part of the human race!]  When I fill out a form that asks these stupid questions: White– African-American, Latino , Asian I always write in HUMAN!]   The commandment is more than a dream,. It requires one to be more than Politically Correct, more than mere tolerance, it requires “Death to self” as into be born again[John 3:7] Love goes beyond the surface of tokenism, and produces a new creation.

“Christianity doesn’t require any power when its only challenge is doing something that already comes naturally.” wrote Spencer Perkins. “But it will take a powerful gospel– a gospel with guts– to enable us to love across all the barriers we ourselves have erected to edify our own kind, and protect us from our own insecurities. ” Note(JB) the italics are mine].

If Martin Luther King Jr. felt the “fierce urgency of now,” in 1963, how much more urgent is the need to the  Gospel of guts, today? Will Christians of all ethnicities and political persuasions have the courage to love one another as Christ loves us? Will WE all go beyond platitudes and love not “with words or speech but with actions and in truth”?  1 John 3:18-21″My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.”

Please know, this gospel of guts, cuts both ways. Whether black, or white, or Hispanic of Asian IF…IF… we claim Christ as our KING OF Kings, we have no justification whatsoever for harboring prejudice or malice toward anyone. No one gets a pass when it comes to being Christlike. So to promote hate one the one hand or to retaliate against it with violence on the other, is to mock and ultimately deny the ONE Who though, “He was oppressed and afflicted… did not open His mouth” [Isaiah 4:7]

Here are some ways to respond now to the love crisis around us:

(1) Confess your own prejudice. Be honest enough with God to admit your own biases and insecurities .

(2) Seek to understand even before you are understood. Listen, without defensiveness, to people’s stories. lay down your [life],” your viewpoint,” for your brothers and sisters, so you can see through their eyes, and have compassion.

(3) Bless those who curse you.  Do not return evil for evil in person or on the web. Refuse to be sucked down the rabbit hole of hate, when provoked by a post or a tweet.

(4) REJECT all forms of hate speech. Don’t use slurs your self, and don’t sanction them by your silence when they are used on others, [Ephesians 4:29]

(5) Spend productive time with others of a different ethnic or socioeconomic group.

(6) Defend the defenseless.  Don’t tolerate injustice towards any group. As Dr. King said :”Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

(7) Forgive As Christ forgave YOU, forgive!

Why should we all adhere to this admonition?

Isaac Watts: “A love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.” ^You and I aren’t sufficient for such grand things, but God’s Grace is sufficient for each one of us.

Yes, the dreamer may be at rest, but all that have Christ within them shall meet him and Him someday soon! The KING of Kings still lives and lives for ever! The we shall all sign: FREE AT LAST! FREE AT LAST! GREAT GOD aLMIGHTY, WE ARE all FREE AT LAST!

Thanking Y O U for your time.

THE CAR WRECK: Thomas Lemon Sings of the Times Jan. 2018.

My many thanks for both the Author and his Publisher. (John B)

The car was wrecked.

Fortunately, no one was hurt except me…my teenage pride. The car was still driveable.

The dreaded end of my journey messed with my mind. How was I going to explain the wreck to the car’s owner, when my own carelessness had caused it? I’d been watching a little airplane that was flying parallel to the road when the trafic stopped ahead of me. I stopped too— in the back of a Ford. The driver was unhurt and so was his car, I’d hit his trailer hitch.

What would I say to the owner of the car I’d borrowed? No excuse would unbend the grill nor straighten out the buckled fender. Lying was out of the question. I xdon’t do that. IT WAS MY FAULT!

Wanting to get the confession out of the way quickly, I went looking for the owner. He was rathyer tight-lipped as he suggested, “Let’s go and take a look.”

“No one was hurt”? It was a half question, half statement.

“No.” was k,my answer, a little more than a shake of my head.

“The other driver?”

“Well. we’ll get it fixed, it’l be OK!”

I was stunned,. “But Dad, aren’t even going to yell at ,me, and tell me I’ll not ever drive your car again?”

“Well, yeeling won’t fix the car,” he said, “and I know you don’t have the money, and therefore what good would it do to be yelling at you?”   “You’re my son, and unhurt, that’s what matters.”

Suddenly , grace took on a whole new meaning for me!

Thanking Y O U for your time.. Questions?  Comments”  John at servant@frontier.com
